Personally, I feel Chennai is the most amazing city which gives you great moments to cherish. We have some amazing food, (South Indian Foods) No matter which ever country you are from you will always want to have the south Indian meal in plantain leaf which Chennai is really known for.
As a Racer the best part of Chennai is the Chozhavaram racetrack and we have had all the top racers across India who have raced here, racers like Karun Chandok, Narain Karthikeyan and even Michael Schumacher’s son Mick Schumacher have raced here. I am very proud to be from Chennai for the fact that the city has been a great breeding ground for a lot of emerging racers I grew up with and of course I am one among them. I started my racing career here and it’s so fascinating to see the kind of infrastructure and support the city can provide to the rarest of sport like racing. Chennaites knowledge about the sport and the way they celebrate racing and racers across all levels is amazing and is unique to Chennai. I owe a lot to my parents, faculties of my school and college for their support and encouragement without which I would not have come this far, off late the kind of support we get from people in social media does give us a world of confidence.
Being a racer, I have always enjoyed driving on the East Coast Road, on weekends we have the super cars and the super Bikes trailing across the road from Thiruvanmiyur to Pondicherry, the breezy ride with the sea by your side gives such a Chance-eyilla feeling. Anyone who is visiting Chennai cannot afford to miss a drive along ECR.
On race days I always love to have a meal in one of the restaurants by the beach and get to the racetrack. Chennai being an early to rise city we always get really yummy food from a cup of hot chai to the hot Idly-Vasa as early as 5am in the morning. Safety while driving has been my top priority and it’s good that the city traffic police have stringent rules in place to ensure the same. Especially when it comes to my racing team of women, I always ensure all the safety norms are followed.
Whenever people see me racing in tracks outside Chennai first question that comes to me is are you from Chennai? Because there is a stereotypical thinking that Chennai is a very orthodox city and women from here can’t make it to sports like these, but I think we all girls proved it wrong from squash, racing and every other sport and have made the city proud. Chennai has a greater number of bike racers across India and their love towards biking is astonishing and I want to bring more girls into racing from Chennai.
If you are on to something, this city will give all the positive energy and motivation and back you to make it big!
